From 5-9 June 2024, MES organized a weeklong Summer Reading Program for 15 children from upper primary grades. The primary goal of this reading program was to instill a lasting love for books and reading. The program was led by MES Library Educator.
The children enjoyed variety of activities, including paper collage, bookmark making, building structures with blocks and playdough, a STEM volcano experiment, and a reading hike. Through the volcano experiment the children not only had fun but also learned about the science behind volcano eruptions. They also engaged in a creative building activity inspired by the book Rain School, which encouraged them to construct their own structures. Despite the scorching June heat, during summer holiday, the children found comfort in the books and engaging sessions at the library.
