The Summer Reading Programs were held from 1-19 June 2026, with 42 students (18 girls and 24 boys) participating across different batches, ranging from kindergarten to Grade six. The goal of the programs was to encourage children to develop a love for reading during the summer break by inspiring them to read as many books as possible, with a target of 50 plus books. The program began with younger children, who explored books on counting, friendship, and picnics. To make reading enjoyable and interactive, children participated in activities including musical  book, sensory play, and yoga session.

In the following week, older students joined the program. The focus for this group was to introduce a wide variety of books within a short period, encouraging them to discover new genres and expand their reading interests. Activities such as readers theatre, stitching, and a reading hike provided opportunities for students to engage with books in creative and meaningful ways. During the third week, students from Grades 1-3 participated in hands-on activities inspired by the stories they read.

These included creating monster-themed bookmarks, making animal masks, and taking part in dance, allowing them to express their understanding of books through art and movement. One of most encouraging outcomes of the program was the enthusiasm children showed toward maintaining their reading logs and tracking the books they completed. Their eagerness to record their reading progress led to additional time being set aside for independent reading. We hope this positive habit continues beyond the summer program and helps nurture a lifelong love for reading.
