Joy of Reading Program, facilitated by Jamyang Gyaltsen, MES Executive Director and Education Specialist, happened from 22 September to 24 November, 2024. This eight-week program was designed to nurture love for reading among younger children. A total of 17 children from grade 1 to 3, along with their parents participated in the sessions. The program helped children to explore library as an exciting and resourceful space. Through activities such as Read-aloud, Book Talk, Browsing Games, Card making, and Book Bingo, the children were introduced to a variety of book genres. A highlight of program was when all the children enthusiastically recalled and sang a song from folk tale What a song!. The children also explored visual art, focusing on feelings, which added another layer to their reading experience. Like the name says, the Joy of Reading program provided a memorable and enriching opportunity for both children and their families.
